feb challenge week 4 - top 10 pairings i haven't written for (yet)

finally finishing what i started 🙈

but if i listed top 10 pairings i like based on, you know, how much i actually like those pairings, it would probably just look like my ao3 works page. so this way i can instead guarantee that none of these are in fics i’ve written before (yet!). (and also i’m restricting myself to one pairing per group. vp of diversity and inclusion over here 👈)

10. Gaeul/Yujin (IVE) — i find it highly unlikely that i’m going to write for ive, but if i did, this would be it. it’s not my fault that they’re always being set up in 123 ive! and that they both have chronic gayface! 😭

9. Chaeryeong/Ryujin (ITZY) — i love homoerotic playfully antagonistic same-age bestfriendism and also everything else that’s up with up with their dynamic. i had a road trip au for them in the works at some point but i don’t even know where it is now.

8. Kazuha/Yunjin (LE SSERAFIM) — i had a lot of interest in lsf up through antifragile era, which quickly waned by unforgiven, and then by easy was so dead in the ground that i fully jumped ship. so possibly my interpretation of shinez is really colored by early-days lsf vs. actual current lsf, but i just think it’s so compelling how kazuha really loves to be around yunjin in almost a puppy-love “you’re-my-favorite-member” kind of way, and yunjin clearly adores her back but in a way where she feels like she should (as an older member) be responsible for kazuha while also thinking she is ubercool and ubercompetent and, like, ubershredded. and also i love that they’re both tall <- my striking intellect at work

7. literally any TWICE pairing — twice was the group the got me into kpop so you would think that i would have written something for them by now lmao. someday! (as i have been saying for the past 5 years)

6. Chaeyeon/Sakura (IZ*ONE? i guess??) —
   • My dealer: got some straight gas 🔥😛 this strain is called “Produce 48” 😳 you’ll be zonked out of your gourd 💯

5. literally any NMIXX pairing that isn’t haely — this is kind of a lie because haely does genuinely have everything for me, and there is a world out there where i just write different permutations of haely ad infinitum. which is to say that no other nmixx pairing has really grabbed me in the same way. however as a contrarian by nature (not what i believe to be one of my finest character traits, to be clear), i want to branch out and not just write the most popular government ship… but also i just want to write haely. sorry.

4. Hayoung/Jiwon (fromis_9) — they really do have such a beautiful (and um, insane) irl friendship and i would like to rpf gay chicken it.

3. Soeun/Soojin (Weeekly) — once upon a time i had so many simultaneous sooso wips going on, like truly everything from whumpy idolverse to scifi space crew au to hotel manager x right-hand-woman au(??? look there is in fact a reason why most of my ideas go in the bin). but obviously i completed none of them and then i sat on them for so long that one day i woke up and weeekly was toast 🎉 so then i had no drive to finish them whatsoever. yeah they look great together and have a very sweet irl friendship + trainee history + extensive pair dance cover videography but mostly it’s just. sorry i’m obsessed with leader/most-trusted-member devotionisms 😔 that’s who i am and likely will be until i die.

2. Mayu/Nakyoung (tripleS) — i had previously never considered them, but then one day my timeline was full of 716 and i was like. whoa okay i’m here. and maybe it comes off as 02z “pair the spares” but honestly imo there’s really something there. maybe they haven’t had a ton of officially orchestrated content together, and maybe they don’t even have a pairing name yet (which, HOW), but what i have seen of them is very sweet. and anyway i’m planning(?) (HIGHLY dependent on my already spotty motivation) a very ambitious something for them so fingers crossed all goes well and it gets off the ground… either that or you’ll never hear me speak on them again lmfao.

1. Jeemin/Mai (izna) — company’s favorite perfectly beauty-standard golden girl center with the world’s longest glossiest hair and an existing hybe pedigree and an uberlong training history and survival show trauma (x2) (and also internalized homophobia… i mean who said that) x constantly sidelined foreigner who has always been a little bit of an outsider in every way and who is used to being a leader but isn’t now and who oscillates between personal ambition and a seemingly pathological need to put others first. with a height difference. and they were are roommates. who is even compelled by this they ask and cut to me jumping up and down going me me me!!!

foaming at the mouth for any and all of these pairings. i know absolutely nothing about izna but color me interested for these jeemin/mai isms... also, love the new layout!
